Located in Green and Beachwood, Ohio, Carp Cosmetic Surgery Center, led by board-certified plastic surgeon Steven S. Carp, M.D., F.A.C.S, performs arm lift surgery for patients in and around Akron, Cleveland and Canton.
Brachioplasty, or arm lift, is a plastic surgical procedure for removing unwanted skin and fat from the upper arms. The procedure is ideal for healthy patients with realistic expectations. Benefits of arm lift surgery include a firmer, younger appearance, greater confidence and self-esteem, and increased outfit choices.
Brachioplasty is an outpatient procedure performed using general anesthesia. It usually takes two hours plus the initial recovery time. Dr. Carp will start by creating incisions in the upper arm to remove excess skin and fat. The remaining skin is pulled taut and sutured together. Recovery takes between two and six weeks, and Dr. Carp may recommend wearing a compression garment and prescribe medication to help with pain. You may need to return for removal of drainage tubes or sutures. Many patients can go back to work within one to two weeks.
The results of brachioplasty are long-lasting and can provide significant enhancements in the appearance of your upper arms. To find out what to expect, see these before and after photos of some of Dr. Carp's actual patients.
