Located in Green and Beachwood, Ohio, Carp Cosmetic Surgery Center, led by board-certified plastic surgeon Steven S. Carp, M.D., F.A.C.S, performs rhinoplasty for patients in and around Akron, Cleveland and Canton.
Rhinoplasty is surgery to reshape the nose. It is the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedure. Rhinoplasty can increase or reduce the size of the nose, change its angle, adjust the way the tip or bridge of the nose is shaped, narrow the span of the nostril, or make changes to the angle between the nose and the top lip. Rhinoplasty can correct birth defects and restore a person’s appearance after an accident. In some instances, rhinoplasty can alleviate breathing problems.
Dr. Carp performs rhinoplasty surgery in about one or two hours. During the procedure, the nose will be separated from the cartilage and bone that supports it. It will then be sculpted into the desired size and shape. Once the framework for the nose has been molded, the skin is re-draped over the framework. A stent will then be applied to help the nose maintain its shape.
The discomfort and swelling that take place after surgery will soon dissipate. Within a few weeks, it will not even look as if you had surgery. You may need to avoid strenuous activity for between 2 to 3 weeks after surgery.
